Mission Statement

The Portsmouth Department of Human Resources’ mission is to support the Town of Portsmouth’s vision, values, and priorities by providing exceptional services to Town departments, staff and the public. We are dedicated to our Town’s principles of accountability, customer service, excellence and transparency. 

The Human Resources Department provides comprehensive Human Resources services to both the Town of Portsmouth and School Department employees. Human Resources works closely with managers and supervisors in addition to assisting all employees as needed.  The Human Resources Department supports the organization by directing and administering programs and activities in the function of benefits, compensation, employee relations, labor relations, organizational development, policy development, performance management, recruitment, and selection.
